For The Record...a dermatologist diary

I might not have been at a Victoria's Secret Fashion show last week. That's because I was somewhere better.

Here's my story of one week ago.
It was Thursday, a rainy Thursday. The kind of rainy Thursday with the kind of rain that makes bird poop leak on cars and makes the flowers grow. On that Thursday, I stepped inside a Dermatologist office. (Just for fun, why else?)

Awakening The Legend- a review on the new Star Wars trailer

No, I have not forgotten readers. You might be a bit upset with me because my last post said that my next post will be today, and well, it's 11:34 pm, but hey, it's Friday. That makes me either really crazy or really devoted. Let's say a little bit of both for now. Anyway- Awakening the Legend. The legend of the force. (Pause for suspenseful effect while I sniffle from so many good feels on this so very epic movie)

Ideas that Travel Dimensions- a film review on Interstellar

"We all have our time machines, don't we. Those that take us back are memories... And those that carry us forward, are dreams."   - H.G. Wells, The Time Machine

There are a shortage of movies in the world that make people think. I saw Interstellar with my Dad over the weekend and I was expecting a wannabe-Oscar-nominee kind of movie. That guy in the corny car commercial was in it (Matthew Mcconaughey) and his country accent was a tad overdone in the beginning, but other than that, I liked it. A lot. It made me feel a little guilty for hating math, and it changed my perspective.

The Image. Photoshop and the Power of a Painted Face.

I read a lot. Sometimes this reading includes magazines. I read a lot of Vogue and high fashion magazines when i'm in supermarkets or have appointments, but who buys those huge things anyways? More than half are advertisements! It's a rip off! Anyway, I have noticed, as a teenage girl, that these advertisements are very specific, almost engineered in a way where the positioning of someone's chin and the alignment of a shoulder makes the picture. Sometimes it's disturbing. The most disturbing part? The fact that other people breeze through these images thinking they are perfectly normal.

moving on (Cha Cha Changes)

I never got over San Francisco. Rephrase- I will never get over San Francisco . I often ask myself why I love it so much. I think it's because it's the first place place I have been on vacation and thought "I could just pack up my things and move here right now." It's true, I could actually see myself living there in the future, among the tall endless trees and the misty oceans crashing against the jagged cliffs. The misty city line imprinted with all of those footprints of runners and surfers and nerds all intertwined in an endless shade of unique. In short- I felt very at home when I really was not.

this thing called CLASSIC

I have always liked old things. There's a subtle history to them, a hidden mystery that appeals to me. I'm not nostalgic. I'm just someone who admires eras and decades that have left their mark in the closets of grandparents houses, waiting patiently in corners of old bookcases at school. I get that look sometimes. The turn of heads in hallways because I look like I just stepped out of some fuzzy movie and not a photoshopped neon magazine that some prefer, and that's ok with me. Take my picture with a Polaroid or better yet, one of my Brownies, they come out better anyway.
If you are a fellow vintage collector, or just plain curious, you may be wondering where I get all these old things. Here's how.

The "L" Word (from a teen's perspective)

My grandmother got me a small poetry book when she went to Paris. It's a selection of famous lines and poems from famous classic writers. It's also called "the glory of love" and quite honestly, it's not something I would particularly pick off of a poetry shelf. Recently, I was looking through it and out of every fancy quote from all these fancy authors, including Shakespeare and Shakespeares, one really stuck with me. Being the blogger I am, I though I would share.

All the Pretty Lights

I can never not have a poem idea in my head. It gets annoying sometimes, but I can't complain.
This poem was born out of all the times I look at a city skyline and someone says "look at all the pretty lights", and I agree but always think that there is so much that's prettier. (I'm talking about the real light shows nature puts on for us).
I got the opportunity to think about all this again recently on a NYC rooftop.
 Here's what happened next.

A Fashion Philosophy

Being my first official fashion post, I would first like to write about my sort of fashion philosophy.

It is true what they say. That a person can be figured out by what they wear. My first impressions of another person comes from the types of shoes they are wearing. That is honestly one of the first things I notice. Shoelaces are also very important. All of these details are very important. There is psychology put into the way someone chooses to clothe themselves. I don't care what anyone says, fashion is important. Take someone homeless for example. Now put them in a suit. Instant New York hipster. (Even though "hipster" has no real meaning or definition). The point is- the man never changed. The clothes changed him. Society now changes their views. The world sees him with a new sense of worth and belonging. But the world did not make him. The clothes made him.

A Powerful Video on a Video Age

A lot of things happened this week, but I couldn't find anything to write about for this week's post. And then, It hit me. One of my very very good friends sent me this video, and I knew other people just had to watch it. ( plus, it goes absolutely perfectly with my last post) (to the extent that I'm questioning if this guy hacked my blog and read it) So here you go. Watch this and wonder. And go enjoy your weekends frolicking in parks and twirling in the air:)

The Instagram Experiment

It was August 17. The exact time I do not know, it was rather spur of the moment, harshly put together, and carelessly whipped up. You see, I seem to make the most irrational decisions when I fail to overthink. This was one of them. But one, I must admit, I do not regret.

A mouse and man in "of mice and men" A Book Review.

I wrote this review April 25th. Being the nerd I am, I wrote it for my own amusement. But hey, I have a blog now. So enjoy:)

A mouse and man in "of mice and men"
A review.

Recently, I finished reading steinbecks mega classic- of mice and men. Yes, yes you all know how i am not a fan of the grapes of wrath, but something struck me in "of mice and men" that only a few novels have the power to accomplish.

My Blog

My name is Angelica Delucca. And this is my blog. This being said, I would like to officially welcome you to Angelica's Allegories. You are probably wondering about why in the world I would name my Blog that. If you look up "Allegory" in the dictionary you will find something along the lines of "any work that is fully symbolic." I like a lot of things in life.  I find that one of the things I like the most is writing. So this blog will be a source of that and many other random, weird things that capture me and represent the way I view the world. Most of the time, I find the world most beautiful through a metaphor. These are my symbols, because I believe that life is limitless.
