blog trailer

i cannot believe that i have been blogging for three years already! it has been one wild ride of creativity, revelations, and just good old fashioned openness. i would have never imagined that my little hobby/ fun thing could do would be a portfolio that helped me land my first writing contract and freelance job! thank you so much for following along with me, and for looking at my pictures and reading my words. the truth is that i created this blog for me really. so that i would have a place to store my memories and my creativity, and it would be a place that would endure the test of time and would be out there as a source of discovery for my friends and family. but it has become so much more than that. it has become a conversation, a dialogue between something greater than just me and my thoughts. enter you, dear reader, and your willingness to keep my thoughts and my artsy stuff in your own memory. i am honored to take up a spot in your mind.

so to celebrate the past three years, i put together my first ever blog trailer! i hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoyed creating it.

until the next post!

summer favorites

Summer is sort of like that favorite dream we all have and we all forget so easily.
In this post, I just wanted to share what I do to cope with summer ending, the birth of a new season, and inevitable change.

s a v e  and  l e t  g o

with fall comes the slow surrender of all things delicate. flowers wither, leaves collapse, and stems dry up. this summer, my mom cut our hydrangeas and used a flower drying technique to save the beauty of them even in their dying state. the result? a hydrangea dried, delicate, and ready to last through the winter in my room. does anyone else feel the need to completely organize and rework their room before September begins? it's become a habit of mine over the years.

design tip:
silver trays bring an element of timelessness and makes any boudoir feel like its been sent from an old Paris boutique. i added my favorite perfumes, lotions, and scents to my tray to keep the feminine feel alive.

one of the main reasons i have any sort of social media, is to keep my favorite memories in one organized place. but relying only on instagram to capture memories would be a tragedy. travel journals, scrapbooks, and collections are the best way to keep the sense of any memory or place alive. so i encourage you, dear readers, to keep on lugging that Polaroid camera around. spend money on film. go crazy in Michael's with scrapbook accessories. summer may be over, but the moments can still last.

organization tip:
without a planner, i would definitely be... lost. i rely heavily on both visuals and written instructions, and a planner is a mix of both. being able to write down everything i need to get done, while visually seeing what day i need to do it on the calendar, helps me enormously.
oh, and the best way to cope with summer ending? the leaves turn hues and the apples get picked only once every year. so bring out the marshmallow sticks and use those ankle boots. you have one shot. make it count.

s u r p r i s e !

i have a youtube channel!!!
(it's still a major work in progress)
(it will be an occasional extension for my blog)
my blog website is still the main place to go for my work (and always will be), but i have a video up on my channel about one of my favorite modern artists Idelle Weber. Haven't heard of her?
Then yeah, you should check the video out.

In the future, you can expect to see more spoken word, poetry, and other artsy/fashion related stuff on the channel.

Please like, subscribe, and comment as you see fit!
Thanks for the support!
